Whenever I visit a new country, I do a few things. I get my hair washed and blown out- specifically to see how they manage women’s beauty…which is interestingly different depending on where you go. I have an old project with Bumble and bumble to thank for that random and educational obsession.
I also rent an airbnb, set up meetings with local artists and tech entrepreneurs, and go to the local food market. It’s the easiest and fastest way to observe how the locals consume, bargain and coexist. Here are some shots my husband took while we visited the Carmet Market in Tel Aviv last month.
All of the baklava pastries and bread products are geometrically baked, sliced and presented. They make these accidental patterns that are beautiful and very inspiring. What are some of your favorite food markets from around the world?
