Vintage Posters from the Munich Olympics

It’s an exciting time in London and for the world as all eyes are glued to today’s Opening Ceremony. While perusing Creatures of Comfort’s tumblr, we came across this poignant post about the Munich Games and the posters that accompanied.

The 1972 Munich Olympics was the first time the events were globally broadcast on television.  As a result, it became the first time a terrorist attack was seen globally.  Otl Aicher, the primary creative force behind the Olympic art chose to use imagery predominantly filled with graphics rather than text and commissioned international artists to make editioned prints.
