Repetition Elsewhere: Missoni at Home

Lifestyle Mirror is a new player to the online space. The editorial features are glossy, the interface, intuitive and the shoppable spreads are an interesting step forward for the industry at large. I was drawn to Margherita Maccapani Missoni’s latest feature where she shares snippets of her family history and imagery of her home.

The photos are beautifully shot by Dylan Don and are an elegant/edgy departure from the over exposed minimalist spreads we’ve become accustomed to seeing. How many patterns can you spot? We’re at nine and counting…

Accessories: The Pocket Square

In celebration of Mr. Porter‘s first birthday, they’ve embarked on a collaboration with ten menswear designers to create a line of pocket squares.

The designs range from bold and artistic to subtle and patriotic. The designers include: Alexander Olch, Band of Outsiders, Drake’s, Horiyoshi the Third, Jean Shop, Oliver Spencer, Our Legacy, Richard James, The Elder Statesman and YMC.

I’d probably have the most luck getting my husband to wear this one. Which one’s your favorite?

Pattern Blocking Your Feet

Footwear’s always focusing on a particular detail, from the heel to the sole to the hardware, designers are forever reinventing the focus to keep trends evolving. This coming season, the toe is stealing the spotlight, from pattern-blocked and solid to studded and shiny. The tiger striped flat is a prototype from the Portuguese footwear designer, Tiago. The Louboutin’s an instagram from the styling adventures of Brad Goreski and this Charlotte Olympia leopard and lip collage is on sale via Moda Operandi for next season.

Adapting this style to metallics, Sigerson Morrison, YSL and Chanel are all on the same page. The fashion forward combat boot is styled by Leandra Medine of the The Man Repeller, shot by Naomi Shon. Love the lacing style, French all-around.

Repetition Elsewhere: Cecilia Paredes

Every year there appears to be an adaptation of the wallflower as wallpaper trend. Nonetheless, it’s fascinating to see various artist interpretations.

Today, Lisa Toff passed along the work of Peruvian artist, Cecilia Paredes, by way of The Citrus Report.

The body paint is intricate, the gestural expression, compelling. Quite a nice balance of color and mixed media composition.

Back in March of 2010, we were pretty focused on the tanagram. Today we’re following the evolution of the trend as one of our favorite brands, Dusen Dusen continues to inspire. Producing a limited edition run for Of a Kind, their pillows hint at two styles- the ever-popular QR Code and graphic unpredictability of geometric markings.

Street Shots: Patternizing Your Legs

Who’s not a fan of patterned tights?

In a similar obsession with Instagram, today’s feature merges both loves. Whenever I happen upon a new city, beyond the regular snapshots, business card pileup and note taking, I always try to buy a pair of tights.

A few favorites are from London (Bebaroque and Patternity), though this leopard argyle number from Beams in Tokyo is a fresh spin on what I’m used to seeing. The legs on the left belong to Kate Williams. She’s sporting Hansel from Basel– a spunky LA business that’s always got an interesting texture for sale.
