Budget Buys: Trove Sample Sale

I was first introduced to Trove by an architect friend, Annemarie Mörl, during the pre Pattern Pulp days. It was a quick remedy to my complaint about bare walls and her suggestion got me yearning for an opportunity to wallpaper any wall.

Fast forward and it’s been a treat to watch Trove’s collection expand and experiment with both materials and patterns. They’re also hosting a super sample sale this week which I’ll be checking out later today.

Fashion: Particle Pieces

We’ve all been there. You hit the return button 5x in a row, trying to get the ball to stop spinning and all of the sudden the screen pixelates, then goes blank. Well, several fashion brands have found inspiration in this state of chaos and still frustration. Mr. Hare of the UK and McQ, the contemporary line by Alexander McQueen have both slashed and repeated several images, infusing a playful reminder that our reliance on digital technology can be as vibrant as it is paralyzing.

Relaying this concept through animated gifs, Mauro De Donatis’s Glitched Helvetica breathes life and motion into this concept.

Homegoods: The Custhom Collection

There’s a beautiful simplicity to the Custhom collection from Thorsten Van Elten. Using thin overlapping vectors, each design is reminiscent of knit patterns and digital gray matter.

Catering to minimalist Scandinavian tastes, this is the first of a series of disjointed pixelated repeats I’ll be posting.

Today we’re continuing our conversation about trademarks, covering a very popular topic- how do you protect yourself against infringement? The most effective brand protection strategies often include monitoring of new and existing trademark filings, domain name registrations, corporate name reservations, common law uses in the marketplace, including on the Internet and in social media applications, and other measures intended to identify potential infringement and counterfeiting. Since a trademark owner’s failure to diligently enforce their rights may make it difficult to repair any damage caused by infringement or counterfeiting, trademark owners should work with a trademark attorney to create a program to protect their brand and mark. Another way to protect against infringement both domestically and internationally is to register trademarks with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to safeguard against imported goods that violate your registered trademarks.
