On my last trip to Paris, I snapped a tremendous reel of photos. The most prevalent theme throughout was leopard. From accessory overload to a visit to the Museum of Hunting and Nature, the accents were cool and accessible while still timeless. I added one of my favorite skirts as well, just to show how the pattern can transcend traditional styles.
Here are a few favorites from last month’s trip abroad. I snapped shots of three major categories, one of which was lighting. From hanging clusters to smooth and modern wood to cardboard molds and animal inspired sculptures, each display was quite interesting. Which one’s your favorite?

While exploring the flea markets on my last trip to Paris, I crossed paths with color pigments of nearly every variety. As you can imagine, it was pretty cool to see a tactile old world approach to mixing color, particuarly coming from an industry where RGB & CMYK affect daily decision making. It’s also interesting to see which pigments are the most popular.
Much like mixing hues at the paint and hardware store, or even mixing hair dye to get the perfect highlight, these Dungay viles are a reminder of a manmade craft long forgotten by younger generations of graphic designers. I was at a friend’s dinner party last night where there were viles of bitters, this collection reminds me of mixology culture, wouldn’t you say?
Makes you wonder what a package redesign for some of our favorite art supplies would look like.
And finally, I’ll leave you with the most electric and eclectic spread. What do you think?
As promised, here are a few shots from this past weekend in Paris. In my last minute scrambling to find a hotel, I managed to plant myself smack dab in the middle of the Marais on gallery row. A surprise and a treat, as it was FIAC and the art was flowing.

These two exhibits blew me away- the gravity defying balancing act of the diver is intense, crisp and slick in a Gattaca kind of way, just as this gallery display is a refreshing spin on arrangement and clustering.
I noticed several reoccurring themes while away last week. One interesting obsession was with wrapped, stitched and bound typography. Here are a few shots from Paris, specifically from the Marais. The top photo is from a makeup shop, the second occupies an empty wall and the third is a poster from the Metro. The texture looks 3D, doesn’t it?

My husband and I spent this past week abroad thanks to dueling work obligations. Luckily we got to escape via the Eurostar to Paris for an extremely last minute weekend trip. We got to meet the lovely Amy Ditmeyer of Prêt à Voyager and Design*Sponge, enjoy some art from FIAC, eat an overload of creme brulee and most importantly relax without a schedule.
It was a constant battle trying to get our Verizon iPhones to work, I thought this picture captured our unending search for an unprotected wifi signal. Over the next few days I’ll be posting shots, enjoy!
