Pretty stunning visualization, isn’t it? Here we have the ocean surface currents during the period from June 2005 through Decmeber 2007, designed by the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center Scientific Visualization Studio.
A comparison was recently made by Mark Wilson of Fast Company comparing it to Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. Beautifully accurate, wouldn’t you say?

This collection is part of the Washed Up, Project Ocean window exhibit at Selfridges that I shot while visiting London a few weeks ago. In the spirit of summer fun, awareness and celebrating the ocean’s treasures, this theme couldn’t be more appropriate to usher in the second half of summer, particularly in light of Montana’s Yellowstone oil spill.
