I recently got a note from the artist Chyrum Lambert, and subsequently fell into a fifteen minute vortex of collage and muted storytelling. Lambert lives in LA and creates beautiful textured layouts that appear abstract from afar, but get more directive the longer you stare. Using ink, dye, stain, acrylic, wax, epoxy, and oil, the works stand on their own, but simultaneous work as a collective unit. Lambert’s style seems easily transferrable to fashion or editorial…I’d love to see his art grace the pages of The New Yorker or perhaps, even a Marni skirt.
