Bobo Choses is a children’s line located in Spain just outside of Barcelona. Co-founded by Adriana Esperalba, the brand aims to create durable and artful pieces every season. We’re particularly keen on the patterns and silhouettes, as they’re bold, unique and comfortable(!) The Bobo goal is a beautiful one, to capture the magical, passionate look and language of children. While the pieces are upscale, they make for beautiful gifts and the occasional splurge. We’re big fans.
Pattern Pulp’s been a hint quieter these last few weeks. Between a renovation, a move to Brooklyn, some family related medical stuff, wrapping the galleys for my Pattern Studio Chronicle book (!) and my own pending labor, things have been, well, busy. I haven’t talked about being pregnant all that much here – and have tried to keep the baby stuff to a minimum, but in my hunt for decorative and necessary items in these last few weeks of my third trimester, I figured I’d share a few favorite finds with all of you. The theme here is black and white – and as usual, I’ve veered away from cutesy…if you’re into this direction, I’d love to know, as I’m happy to post more on the topic.

Who remembers the cloud trend from 2009? Everything was round and plump with rain in the forecast. This mobile from Lucky Wang is reminiscent of this theme and a lovely gift for a newborn. If you’re feeling crafty, it’s also easy enough to make. Which face is your favorite?
Since the season’s in full swing, I’m assuming most of you are already crossing gifts off your lists- particularly if you celebrated Chanukah. With pop up shops on every downtown corner, I figured I’d jump in and offer my two cents. I might continue adding more to the mix, but to kick off, here we go:

When’s the last time you dug a little deeper and thought twice about the purchases you make? Do you buy punchy colorful products or prefer soft, muted shades? Do you make impulse decisions online or in the store?
It’s a lot to think about when juggling a busy schedule, but we have to say we’re intrigued by various markets, both locally and abroad and today we’ll be sharing some fun facts that Alessandra, the creative force behind the children’s line, Lala’s Pequenos, has graciously shared with us about her global customers.
For example, Americans love gray, brown, pink, blue, and greens combined in any which way so long as there are animals for boys and flowers for girls.
Add a modern parent to the mix and there’s a good chance he or she will be buying geometric prints. If you’re wondering if organic’s an issue, Alessandra’s customers buy at a 50/50 rate in the US.
In the Canadian and Australian markets, parents prefer organic fabrics that are gray, brown, soft yellow and soft blue. Geometrics and aviary prints dominate (particularly owls)!
In the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern territories, kid-like designs in bold primary colors are at the top and buying organic isn’t necessarily a priority.
The French and Germans enjoy bolder browns, pinks, blues and orange. Geometric prints nearly always dominate and buying organic is at a 50/50 split.
Rounding out the global territories, Lala Pequenos’ Asian customers prefer soft colors and organic if possible. A nice refreshing fact that we’ll admit is a joy to hear.
While there are currently no babies in the Pattern Pulp family, we’d be hard pressed to find anyone who’d turn down gifting these adorable bloomers from Bird and Banner this holiday season. While we’re not certain if these are actually in production beyond the limited collection at Shrimp Shop in LA, we’d love to see an expanded range, as the cut and pattern are equal parts chic and practical.
