Art: Revolution in Blue

1Blue22Blue

Latifa Echakhch’s curent show at The Hammer’s Project embarks on a story of lost communication. Affixing hundreds of pages of carbon paper to a gallery wall, Echakhah has run a solvent over it, shedding the ink of it’s meaning. Her piece, À chaque stencil une revolution (for each stencil a revolution), uses the outdated mode of communication to reference its significant use in previous wars. Referring to both abstract expressionism and the signature blue of Yves Klein, the work forces us to reconsider the relationship between art and politics. Click here to read more.
