Heather Moore of Cape Town, South Africa has a knack for screen printing and illustration. While all of her patterns are captivating, this one in particular made us linger, wondering if the Duikers in The Sevilla Rock collection deserve a home in New York. Webb’s latest roll of wallpaper is part of Anthropologie’s Fall ’10 collection and is beautiful, busy tribute to owls.
San Francisco: Digital Embroidery
Ehren Reed‘s mixed media works have been making the internet rounds for a while now. Merging technology’s ethereal presence with the physicality of handmade craft, Reed stitches and embroiders maps, books and other found objects with the intent of solidifying pixelated media. Her upcoming show at the Edo Salon and Gallery in San Francisco investigates the interpersonal relationships society has with the internet and contemporary culture. For more info, click here.

Artist Profile: Julien David
Graphic designers get really excited when the art world a.) beautifies and b.) acknowledges their daily design tools. Today we present you with Julien David and his most recent collaboration with Pringle of Scotland, Colette and DC Comics. Using bold illustrations, vivid colors and rich fabrics, David single handedly creates a playful dialogue for the luxury market to wrap it’s head around. The symbolism behind the keyboard and Superman logo remind us of the importance and influence both images hold on a global scale. By enlarging and repeating, we see how easy it can be to force an audience to heed a message. Whether you’re wearing a twinset or a scarf, all of David’s pieces are conversation starters, not to mention, exciting interpretations of pop culture.
Homegoods: Missoni Sample Sale
It’s rather exciting when brands tastefully execute graphic pattern trends. Be it pixelated pillows or outlined animal print plates, Missoni Home always seems to get it right, remaining at the forefront of creative home accessory production. After seeing so many half hazard attempts at the digital trend, it’s refreshing to see the correct fusion of materials, creative direction and finish, and it’s particularly refreshing to see a brand push trends that aren’t necessarily ‘market-safe.’ Tomorrow, a vast array of their home goods will be for sale on Gilt Groupe. Even if you don’t buy, it’s worth perusing- just for inspiration’s sake.
Budget Buys: Social Couture Tableware
Playful vector graphics have timeless appeal. They apply to the youth market and are widely adaptable across multiple platforms. I probably churned out 10 a day when I worked as a children’s footwear designer at my first job in Manhattan. Today, Social Couture‘s vibrant and geometric line is for sale on One Kings Lane.
