Trina Turk‘s a trailblazer in the pattern department. Her prints are vibrant and feminine and cover everything from tunics and shoes to couches and handbags. Today’s sale on Gilt Groupe presents a grounded collection of psychedelic florals and candy colored herringbone.
This time last year we were heavily entrenched in geometric kaleidoscopes. From Arpana Rayamajhi‘s magnificent drawings to Marni’s midcentury spring line, it was easy to see where prints were headed. Fast forward and Arpana’s back in Napal tagging and beautifying walls left right and center. The above photo captures a recent work from Kathmandu.
In contrast and compliment, we’re sharing art from another Pattern Pulp favorite, Ana Montiel. Montiel has been working feverishly on her latest collection to present at her upcoming solo show at Centro Cultural Gran Via in Spain at the end of April. The prints are summery, translucent, ethereal and geometric.
Rounding out the category and reminding us how we’ve evolved, we’re including a snapshot of last year’s feature with Marni and Anna Bondoc. From brightened colors and overlapping interconnected shapes, the updates have been slight, but optimistic, a nice sign for what’s to come this season.
Every now and then the FT Weekend gets their fashion, print and pattern spread really right. The most recent collaboration with artist, photographer and stylist, Damian Foxe is a mind blowing example. Equal parts commercial and artistic, Foxe works with several traditional wallpaper houses to create life-sized paper dolls.
Wallpaper houses included in this spread include: Timorous Beasties, Sanderson, Lewis and Wood and Designers Guild.
I stumbled upon these patterned gems in London last November while browsing the black and white selection at The Dark Room. They’re easily one of my favorite accessories and it’s exciting to see that the ladies behind this limited edition run have been busy working to expand their line.

Megan Herbert‘s a force to be reckoned with. Not only is she a fantastically talented artist and writer, she’s a good friend and a discerning creator. Megan’s made Reykjavik her home over the past few years, proving that minimalist surroundings and limited resources can spark tangible creativity.
Her latest commercial endeavor taps our unending human desire to give and I can say first hand that the wrapping paper’s a durable conversation starter that’s without fail, a fun experience on the receiving end. Each design in her latest series explores ways to give love and gratitude beyond the often holiday-induced act.
