If you haven’t paid a recent visit to the Gap, we highly recommend it. Their latest collaboration with DVF is as bright and cheerful as the billboards suggest. The palettes have a playful sophistication and the clothing’s a mini replica of Furstenberg’s signature looks. In addition to the oversized giraffes and textured elephants, you’ll find dresses, onesies, stretch pants, raincoats, swimsuits, beach balls and footwear. The collection includes 50 items that are toddler to few year appropriate.

Here’s a snapshot of Raquel Allegra‘s Spring line. I stumbled across it on a visit to Barneys earlier this week and lingered much longer than I’d like to admit. I snapped the tag, then promised myself I’d find my way back to try on the slacks after a trip to the kids floor. The collection’s polished and emotive with a sophisticated fusion of urban nature. It actually reminds me a lot of city and beach culture around the world (ie. Rio, Barcelona, Sydney and Tel Aviv).

The video compliments the line in the way moving art should. It’s mood enhancing and dramatic yet peculiarly calming.

As I’ve been spending less time (read: no time) behind a cubicle, I’ve been illustrating a lot more. After a day’s work, post dinner, I’ve been pulling out the markers, illustrating, then throwing the designs into photoshop before bed.

Every time my screen freezes, I wish I were faster to capture it. The patterns are so unexpected and beautifully frustrating. As brands have woven the concept of technology into their products, the transition’s been interesting to observe. From McQ’s and Mr. Hare’s paralyzing ads last year to Phillip Stearns’ more recent glitch blankets, the concept celebrates our utter lack of control- and a visual acceptance of the future.

Geometrics & Tangerine Textures

I don’t always throw pictures of myself on Pattern Pulp, but seeing as how this sweater got so much love on instagram, I thought I’d share the palette (and the double collar). I bought this in the vintage bin at the Steven Alan sample sale, though it reminds me a lot of Annie Larson’s fabulous sweaters.

For those uninitiated, Larson’s a master knitter. After dipping her toes in the corporate pool (ie Target), she soon left for greener pastures to start All Knitwear, her own line of American-made sweaters. I first noticed these gems while on a visit to Melbourne, Australia (ironically), but have seen them near and far over the past few years. Larson’s most recent collaboration was with the ladies behind Of a Kind. They’re selling the most adorable and affordable hats. Have a look before they’re gone.
