Meet the Newest Member of the Team!




Meet Lesley Morphy. She’s one of my lovely and amazing friends here in New York, she’s also an extremely talented set designer. I’ve been trying to get Lesley to contribute for a while, as her vision is always imaginative and clients, star-studded. From fashion shows to music video backdrops to concert VIP areas to Superbowl party design, she’s a seasoned expert and has much to share. In her own words…

“i am LAM. i love all things creative. i moved to new york with nothing but a hockey bag. and big dreams. i love to travel and explore tangible textural materials. i cannot decide if i love line or form more, but color is my favorite thing.

i design sets for music videos and music performances, broadcast interviews and press junkets, photo shoots and fashion shows. and anything that needs an interesting background or environment. i design spaces for events. i prop style and art direct. i design installations and flowers, presentations and graphics.  among others, i have worked with Madonna, Jay-Z, Rhianna, Gwen Stephanie, Beyonce, JK Rowling, Bono, Ludacris, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, and Aretha Franklin.”

Meet the Newest Member of the Team!




The timing couldn’t be better to introduce the newest member of the Pattern Pulp team! David B. Sherman is an Intellectual Property attorney in the New York office of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, a full-service law firm with more than 600 attorneys in locations across the USA and an affiliate in London.  David’s practice focuses on trademark and copyright law, including issues relating to advertising, social media and the Internet. David regularly represents clients in the fashion and apparel, music, entertainment, publishing, and consumer products industries.  He is also a frequent lecturer on intellectual property issues, and dedicates significant time to pro bono service by providing legal consultation and educational courses to low-income entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout New York City.

Sherman’s first PP piece will focus on trademarks and the importance of knowing what they are and how to acquire them when running your business. Follow along as David provides insight on how the legal and creative industries can collaborate and what it means for you.

So, What's Going on Here?




Good question!

I haven’t started competing blogs with the same name if that’s what you’re wondering…

So I take a lot of pictures, we all do. I’ve needed a faster, off-the-cuff solution for some time now, a place to store half-baked ideas and imagery in progress.

I’ve always loved Tumblr’s interface and shareability features, so I figured it’s time to experiment outside of WordPress and just use this domain as “Pattern Pulp Lite” or “Pattern Pulp on the Go”, if you will. Feel free to follow along, join the conversation, or post your own pics.

Happy New Year!




Dear Friends,

I hope this note finds you well on New Years Eve Day!

I apologize for my sudden disappearing act this week.  As many of you know, New York was socked by a blizzard of epic proportions.  As I was due to fly to Asia on Monday, I made a last minute switch and caught a flight to Hong Kong before the storm hit.  The change left me without any time to wish you all well.

I’ve been visiting loved ones in Singapore for the week and am leaving for a scouting trip to Sydney and Melbourne tonight, back in New York in mid January.

But fear not!  Beginning Monday, January 3rd I’ll be rolling out Pattern Pulp’s 2011 Designers to Watch.  We’ll have a mix of emerging and established creatives who have been most inspiring to us over the past year.

In the meantime, have a wonderful New Years and I look forward to touching base soon!

Pattern Pulp's in Tokyo!




Greetings from Tokyo!

First off, I hope that our readers from the States had a fantastic 4th of July weekend.  While I missed the festivities, I have had the pleasure of visiting one of the most inspiring cities in the world.

From the back alleys of Harajuku and Daikanyama to the high streets of Omotesando and Ginza and the mega department stores of Shinjuku and Shibuya, Tokyo has been stimulating all five senses.

Next week we’ll be back with highlights from the trip.

In the meantime, check out our favorite new Japanese export, The Suzan, who’s new album was produced by Bjorn Yttling (of Peter, Bjorn and John fame) and will soon be released on Fool’s Gold/Downtown Records.
