Pattern Pulp

News to Share…

Fun news to (finally) report…I’m creating a Pattern Sketchbook with Chronicle, and it’ll be coming out in Spring 2016. (Yay!) We’ll be focusing on pattern spotting in the world around us, and how inspiration becomes a purposeful repeat.

I know that sounds like a massively long time from now, but everything is actually due rather soon, so…here’s where you come in.

I have a nice outline coming together of who I’d love to include in this book, but I’m always on the hunt for new pattern designers, artists and illustrators- especially young talented ones. I’ve always been a strong believer of following the experienced creators as much as the fresh up-and-comers.

So, please feel free to submit work that follows these guidelines. I’d love to include 1 or 2 art students to the mix.

Please address your emails to: editor@patternpulp.com with the subject title: Patterns & Inspiration. Please, no heavy files – just links and jpgs.

Thank You!

Shayna

Wrapping Up 2014

IMG_1242

Today’s my last day in the office til January 6th. Taking two weeks off to travel, rest and recharge. In the meantime, I’ve put together a few wrap-up posts to finish off the year. The best and the brightest, so to speak – in the categories of branding, pattern, textiles, architecture, inspiration and whimsical wit. Enjoy and here’s hoping for a brighter year ahead! Happy Holidays.

Work From My Latest Redesign

shaynak_newsitedesign2

About a month ago, I refreshed my online portfolio with a quick and dirty redesign. I had a speaking engagement with the kind folks at Percolate, and realized about two weeks prior, that my personal domain hadn’t been touched in three years (crazy, but maybe some of you can relate)! It was time to replace it with something current and representative of my current aesthetic…not to mention the work I’ve done in-between.

While it’s still very much a work-in-progress (these things always are), I thought I’d share some imagery with you. I have an active pattern library now with roughly 150 prints, for clients who’d like to purchase or license (beyond custom pattern design) and am continuing to do creative brand development and marketing strategy (my bread and butter).

Hopefully soon, I’ll get to share a few collaborations that I’ve been working on over the past few months. When it comes to fashion and product development, the timelines are loooong, it’s always a test of patience! Particularly now that so much of my work is in the digital space.

In the meantime, check out what’s up and feel free to share your thoughts- I’d love to hear your feedback. Over time, I’ll be adding more in-depth imagery and explanations to compliment… Thanks!

Your Stockholm Suggestions…

digital_weave_patternpulp

Happy Wednesday! I’m heading to Stockholm and Tel Aviv next week. In addition to seeing family and exploring new neighborhoods, I’ll be meeting with designers and would love to expand my list. If you know of anyone amazing, please let me know (and put me in touch). Thank you so much!
