Brimfield just ended. Did any of you go? This round I skipped out, as I’m spending a good deal of the summer cleaning out my grandparent’s house in Rhode Island. It’s grown into a beast of a project…and the range of treasures from 70 years of hoarding could rival any antique sale.

Here are a few snaps from the last round, when my friend Allison and I rented a car and made a road trip out of our Sunday. The laundry list of homegoods ranged from mismatched linen chairs and rustic tables to sequin cats, art deco plates and antique maps. Would you be inclined to pick up a marker if you had this poster on your wall? I came across this playful piece at Merci Merci in Paris last month. It’s organized chaos at it’s best, and entitled Coloriage Geant. This roll of paper is a playful gift for any kid at heart.

Textures in Wall Decor from Moonish

Decorators rejoice, there’s a new kid in town! Meet the folks behind Moonish, a new modular wall decor company sprout out of Brooklyn. Hand-dying and silk-screening marine grade plywood “tiles,” each square can be attached to a wall with a magnet and steel adhesive. I like this. I also like the patterns. They combine geometrics of traditional tiles with the warmth of wood in a fresh way. You can cover a wall, or simply accent a space, mixing and matching as you go. Very DIY friendly for the crafter/renovator in all of us.

Merav Danny's Textured Bowls

While visiting Tel Aviv last month, I spent some time exploring Nachalat Binyamin, a weekend artist’s market. I was on a bit of a mission. We we heading to my husband’s family for a few hour lunch, and I was on the hunt for a gift. As it goes, when you’re creatively opinionated and unclear of who’s on the receiving end, I go with something I’d love to get, toned down a bit. When I stumbled upon Merav Danny’s papier-mâché bowls, it was over and I was glued to the table for the rest of the fair. Merging street art, nature and feminine themes, each collage is a work of art worthy of extended distribution. I gravitated towards a torn paper camouflage bowl for the family and bought this cartoon piece for myself. Feels like Geoff Mcfetridge and Brian Rea had a baby, right? How beautiful are these Valdrada plates from Michelle Varian? Fusing Eastern and Western themes, these collaged plates are an interesting evolution from the ecclectic animal variety selling at A&G Merch in Williamsburg. A beautiful high-end hybrid for the artistic shopper.

Retail: Hanging Floral Displays

The best retail displays are made meticulously with TLC. Today’s feature highlights the delicate beauty of hanging flowers. Inspired by the drying process, as illustrated in the first photo, flowers are elegant in all lives. Handmade in both instances, Anthropologie‘s paper tulips hang above their home department. Bisous Ciao‘s display, a love of labor by the owner and chef, Tanya Ngangan, is a gradual wave of layered papers. All very season appropriate, isn’t it?
