Budget Buys: Social Couture Tableware

Playful vector graphics have timeless appeal. They apply to the youth market and are widely adaptable across multiple platforms. I probably churned out 10 a day when I worked as a children’s footwear designer at my first job in Manhattan. Today, Social Couture‘s vibrant and geometric line is for sale on One Kings Lane. While several of these styles have already sold out, some are still some available. Check them out, as they’re as inspirational as they are gift-worthy!

Sample Sale: Kyle Bunting Rugs

In another world I’d cover every inch of my hardwood floors with Kyle Bunting rugs. They’re all stunning- meticulous mosaics, pieced together in repeated perfection. Unfortunately for me though, I’m a vegetarian and the thought of stepping on fur really bothers me. Even though I wear leather at leisure and can watch my boyfriend eat pastrami corned beef sandwiches, I draw my home furnishing line here.  That being said, it would be foolish to disregard these works of art, as they truly stand out from the crowd and are fitting for the right buyer. A beautiful selection of these vibrant floor coverings are on sale today at Gilt Groupe. Peruse for inspiration or for a purchase!

Trend: Scaling your Spectacles

Pop culture celebrates all things new and is continually retrofitting to keep our attention. Everyone from the photographer to the celebrity to the stylist plays a role in producing consumable content. Today’s post combines a trifecta of elements, proving that when the ducks are in a row, it’s hard not to recognize an obvious trend. Here we have Justin Bieber, playfully shot by Gregory Harris for Interview Magazine. He’s styled in vintage Cherry NYC glasses with texturized lenses. Selling a look that’s similar but different, Gilt Groupe has asymmetrically striped wayfarers on sale in their gift bin today. Reminding us that styles must exist beyond one city, Alexandra Cassaniti , an LA based fashion designer (and Pattern Pulp fav), recently released her surf inspired X lenses, proving no surface is safe from decorative accents, particularly when summer’s around the corner.

Follow-up: Global Lightscapes

Back in October, lightscape patterns were popping up left and right. These unruly markings were appearing in everything from media and textiles to graffiti and print. Today, Alexander McQueen’s sample sale on Gilt Groupe features fashion photography with light, shadow, and graffitied negative space. Refreshingly the technique has been slightly adapted and is quite playful. Adding chaos to the horizontal layout forces the model and her leather bustier to pop and as a result, the viewer settles on the warm tones, pondering if they should click to see more. For an ecommerce site looking to lure consumers, we give this image a high score, as it’s got all the ingredients for the all important impulse click.

Orla Kiely Sample Sale

There are a lot of Orla Kiely fans out there and for those of you who hoard her geometric totes like there’s no tomorrow, you’ll be pleased to know that Gilt Fuse is selling a sampling of her collection today at a fraction of the price. Kiely is known for her 60s-inspired graphic prints of pears, flowers and stems. Over the past few years, Kiely’s success has allowed her to branch out into home and fashion, proving her commercial vitality in a crowded market. Watch out for her upcoming Spring/Summer collection, as the prints are delicate and fun and the cuts, refreshingly sophisticated.
