Nude & Atmospheric: Girls & Ghosts




On the heels of this morning’s Moki post, it seems relevant to highlight two paralleling works. The Standard Hotel, Vanessa Beecroft, Guest of a Guest and Playboy presented the installation, Nude is Muse at Art Basel Miami. It was a huge hit (big surprise). Mimicking this dreamlike state of still haziness, Moki’s ghosts emit a similar vibe. While each image refers us to opposing climates, both landscapes appear lonely, surreal and isolated. Emerging from their environments, both the girls and the ghosts are one with nature, still and stunning.

Twitter Influencer: Von Glitschka




It can be said that Von Glitschka‘s successful career as an illustrator and designer is based on a few coincidences. By his account, he wound up in design school because his guidance counselor claimed to be unable to find any information about film school. Post college, he spent years working as a full-time designer for a company when he caught his daughter’s cold, called out sick and his boss found an email from another company offering him a job that he turned down.

Still, he found himself out of work and decided to take the freelance leap by setting up his own studio. It’s flourished ever since. His company, Glitschka Studios has it’s hands in many pots which is evident from Glitschka’s twitter feed. Von covers all the bases, from the arts, general observations, social commentary, events and even job finds.

Book Review: Geometric Book




It’s holiday season and if you’ve got a pattern lover in your midst (ahem!), we have the perfect book for you. Sisters, Nicole and Petra Kaptiza, who run their own independent design company, created Geometric Book, a beautiful tome unto itself, with page upon page filled with exciting collections of colorful and monochromatic pattern illustrations.

The book also comes with a CD containing 100 pattern fonts – an extensive array of designs to get inspired by.
