Pattern Pulp

Twitter Influencer: Christoph Niemann

Christoph Niemann is an illustrator, graphic designer and has authored several books. While his work continually appears in impressive publications, you may know him best from his inventive and whimsical column, Abstract Sunday, for the New York Times.

What’s so great about Christoph is the intelligence and inventiveness that seeps from his work, easily pushing the boundaries of what’s considered art. He’s eager to share life’s lessons, making his twitter feed such an interesting read. Of course, you get the bon mots for which twitter is the perfect medium, but you can also stay abreast of all the  venues in which his work and words appear as Christoph travels the world.

Artist Profile: Claudio Parentela

Claudio Parentela gets collage. He also gets patterns, chaos and illustration. Parentela recently reached out and it took but a second to get lost in his work as each piece is a mastery in storytelling. On a budget of scissors, magazines, paint and pens, each design takes you to an alternate universe of lucid imagination.

Which piece speaks to you?

So, What's Going on Here?

Good question!

I haven’t started competing blogs with the same name if that’s what you’re wondering…

So I take a lot of pictures, we all do. I’ve needed a faster, off-the-cuff solution for some time now, a place to store half-baked ideas and imagery in progress.

I’ve always loved Tumblr’s interface and shareability features, so I figured it’s time to experiment outside of WordPress and just use this domain as “Pattern Pulp Lite” or “Pattern Pulp on the Go”, if you will. Feel free to follow along, join the conversation, or post your own pics.

Thanks!

Mens Swimwear from Selfridges

[slideshow id=16]

While in London on an extended layover from my honeymoon, I decided to add some business, scouting and vegetarian dining to the mix, why not take advantage, right? Here are a few snapshots of a TopMan artist collaboration under the Ocean Project that’s selling at Selfridges now.

The SelbyGary CardBernhard Willhelm, Jonathan Saunders and Cassette Playa are part of this grand collaboration. The prints refreshing and individualistic. Looks like bikes, kittens, floral silouettes and robot parts will be ruling the sand this summer.

Geometry, Animation & Astrophonica

ASTROPHONICA in collaboration with UTILE recently presented a video for Customtone by Fracture & Neptune, featuring Martin Fieber. The video morphs graphic geometry into compelling shapes, using a minimal palette and black hole-simulating texture. Created to celebrate the launch of the album ‘Retrospect’ – a Decade of Fracture & Neptune’, Emilski and Nick Duggins of UTILE take the viewer on a psychedelic journey into the Astrophonica universe. The results are mesmerizing- watch below:
