I get thrown on countless marketing teams throughout the year- that’s the gig when you’re freelance. Sometimes I’m tasked with brainstorming creative strategies for social media content, other times I play matchmaker for brands and artists. Though a majority of the time, I’m behind the wacom tablet designing digital campaigns, collaborating with UX and UI designers, trying to redesign branded platforms that are cool, useful and fun to explore.

Generally, between meetings, jokes and nerdy design tips, we’re all trying to make something as cool as this new app from The Creators Project. Using three artistic styles, the app mines your friends and newsfeed to build a unique piece of art specifically tailored to you. If you’re so inclined, you can have it 3D printed, very cool, right? Have a look, explore, and update your profile pic already.

Robert Allen for Dwell




We get lots of press inquiries at Pattern Pulp. Sometimes they’re extremely helpful, and keep us looking at the latest and greatest, though other times there’s just a lot excess. With the gift show currently in action, the emails have been flying! This collaboration caught our eye though- it’s between Robert Allen and Christiane Lemieux of Dwell Studio.

The palette’s fresh and the patterns are bold. These outdoor pieces are a welcome alternative to the geometric prep that’s been circulating for years now. What do you think, are you a fan?

Plastic Plaids with Megan Geckler




Lately I’ve had flagging tape on the mind. It’s uses are astounding for spatial design, especially if you’re patient and technically skilled. Megan Geckler‘s creative applications are some of the most inspiring examples I’ve seen to date.

Setting the bar rather high, Geckler’s woven plastis are reminiscent of plaid swatches. Using a saturated minimalist palette, each work tells a modern yet folksy story. For sweeping layouts, here’s some more of her impressive work.

Around the Globe: Graffiti in Paris




Learning to appreciate a city beyond it’s tourist attractions is a liberating thing. While in college, I remember reading a New Yorker article and this one line really stuck. It had to do with everyone flocking to nothingness and finding each other – which seemed like the funniest and saddest visual- particularly in relation to tourist itineraries.

When you travel, I think there’s real value in exploration. While the Louvre or the Eiffel tower is certainly rewarding, I don’t believe there’s anymore happiness to be found in checking that off the list, than finding the Django jazz bar woven between the Sunday flea market in Paris. It’s all part of the experience of discovering a new city.

When I explore, I generally keep the attractions in mind, but put greater emphasis on the surrounding neighborhood. I like to devote half days to weaving up and down new streets, looking for cafes, concert stickers, door patterns, gardens and random construction projects.

Here’s some graffiti I’ve been sitting on for a while- it’s from Paris, primarily the Marais. It’s animal and super-hero-centric. Enjoy!
